(FT3) The Leica MicroFourThirds 30mm f1.4 lens?
Last week we told you Panasonic and Leica probably made an agreement to produce new MicroFourThirds lenses. Probably this will be a Panasonic branded lens, made using the unbeaten Leica tecnology.
The first lens that will be released is “rumored” to be the Leica 30mm f1.4 lens. We will have to wait at least until December before the official announcement.
We all hope to have a tiny not too expensive high quality lens!
Merry Christmas!

(FT4) HOT! Panasonic GF2 with Built-in EVF?
(FT3) Olympus E-460 coming soon? DxO Optics pro software leak
If it is a 1.4 lens it would be a Summilux not Summicron.
30mm 1.4 would be nice though.
My fault!
I’d pay $1000-$1500 for anything approximately 17-26mm f/2. I wouldn’t buy a 30mm at all – just don’t have any interest in that focal length. I’d rather have an f/2 than a 1.4 as well, to keep it small and light.
60mm equivalent?
not interested either.
Not interested in any primes in the 26-44mm (52-88 eq.) range. I’d prefer something more like this:
50mm -> Nice for Portraits (1.8 at least). (Or a macro version would be nice)
20mm-> Perfect Normal lens (I’m putting off my EP-1 decision until I see Panasonic’s 20 1.7). I certainly prefer 40 eq to 50eq as normal lens. Of course 1.4 (or more) would be sweet
Prime in the 7-10 range (2.8 at least).
What do you think? What lenses would you want? (Let’s help Olympus with their roadmap!
)
Why 30 mm? Personally, I think it’s the least desired focal length of all. It’s too long to be a “normal” but too short to be a portrait tele. Personally, I would not buy a prime between 20 and 40 mm. Why can’t they do a 40/1.4 (or 42 or 45) instead?
