(FT2) It is the Panasonic LX3 successor which you are going to see soon?
UPDATE: The main sources told us that he is not sure about the LX3 release…
We received the first rumors about the LX3 successor one month ago. At first we couldn’t believe it but now we got more and more confirmations. Panasonic will announce the camera in August.
.
I already have listened the specs in previous post so this is just a reminder if you havn’t read it before:
It will probably have a completely new back-illuminated sensor. This means that High-Iso quality should dramatically improve. And there is more…the sensor is bigger! A 1/1.3 inch LiveMOS is fitted inside the camera. The lens is a Summicron (it starts with f/2.0).
One sources told us the name will be LX4. But we still are trying to get a confirmation. We hope to receive more detailled informations as soon as possible…
.
One personal request to Panasonic…Don’t be shy! Make the camera available soon for everyone ok?

(FT4) HOT! Panasonic GF2 with Built-in EVF?
(FT3) Olympus E-460 coming soon? DxO Optics pro software leak
Riiiiight…..just make them available
Well let’s see what Cannon is up to……G10 is almost (or already?) 1 year old.
this would mean an LX3 price drop. what a bargain!!
Still 24mm wide angle? Are they going to get rid of the lens cap?
I don’t know how to calculate the size of the censor. ..
1/1.3 is about 57% dia of 4/3, so the CCD area is about 33% of 4/3.
Am I correct?
can’t wait…thanks for keeping us updated.
would be interesting to see if it’ll be really call LX4
This sounds pretty great. My 3 issues with the LX3 probably will not be addressed though:
-lens doesn’t fully retract/needs lens cap
-long end isn’t at all long enough
-build quality. It seems ok until you hold a G10 or GRD, then it just feels like a toy.
Just hope that Panasonic really wants to sell this one, instead of kidding around like they did with the LX3. If they want, they will sell a lot of them, once the LX3 was and is a big sucess. Well, for those that found one to buy….
Chances are the LX3 replacement won’t be called the LX4. The number 4 is considered a bad omen in Japanese culture.
I hope Panasonic will sell this internationally. It seems like Panasonic stopped exporting their cameras for some reason.
I want to see the specs and the camera
I hope the zoom is 24mm-84mm f/2.0-2.8
Then it’s my new Camera.

Please ask your sources if they know something about the replacement of the FZ28/FZ50!!
thanks
Something has to be up. You can’t find an LX3 out there and Amazon is trying to sell some for $620 (black version). You can no longer get the camera from Panasonic’s website (they refer you out to other shops).
I’m stuck now. I want to get one… but if something’s coming, it might be worth the wait.
Hopefully, they will release it soon and make it available to all. I have been trying to find the LX3 for 2 weeks for an upcoming trip overseas — don’t want to lug my SLR. Even tried to find one in London — so far no success. If I can’t find one in the next two weeks, I will buy the Canon G10 instead with bad feeling towards Panasonic for not making it as available in the US as in Europe.
For those of you looking, try Dell. Available nly in Silver at $429.99 and it looks like USA ground shipping is free.

I did a cart add and there were no out of stock warnings.
I have to get a a camera now. cant wait for the LX4., so its going to be the LX3
Libby, I have had an order in for the LX3 with DELL since June. When I ordered, I asked the order taker if it was in stock. She said yes. Turns out that she was not being truthful. I have not yet received the LX3 I ordered and Dell recently moved the estimated delivery date, once again, to Aug 26th. If an LX4 is about to come out, then, perhaps I will be glad I did not get an LX3. Meanwhile, I may just order a ZS3 since it has a nice telephoto range of 300 MM.
I already bought a LX3… yesterday.
This article is just.. just rumor!!! It’s not true! It’s imposible!
People have WAY too much hope in back-side illumination, IMO. It’s main promise is to restore the lost efficiency when pixels get even smaller than on the LX3, but the LX3 pixels are already very efficient so not much to hope for in that way.
