(FT5) UPDATED -> New Olympus camera coming soon…no MicroFourThirds?
New compact camera or MicroFourThirds?
The teaser has been posted inside the Stylus Though section. So may it is not a MicroFourThirds camera. The official MicroFourThirds section doesn’t show the teaser!
Need some help from my trusted sources: Please send your rumors to 43rumors@gmail.com!
UPDATE -1: it could be a new Low-Entry compact camera with big 4/3 sensor. Something like the Sigma DP2
UPDATE -2: A veeeery reliable source sent me this “Don’t be distracted on the 2nd. Keep your eye on the prize.”

(FT4) HOT! Panasonic GF2 with Built-in EVF?
(FT3) Olympus E-460 coming soon? DxO Optics pro software leak
Well, it does seem to have the 17mm pancake on it, and by magnifying the picture there seems to be a pop up flash, about the evf youve got me intrigued!! rawr!
Could this be the first micro digital SLR with an optical viewfinder?

The teaser shows up on the FE, Stylus and Stylus Tough pages. I don’t think it has interchangeable lenses. Probably a high-end point and shoot to compete with the Panasonic LX3, Canon G11, etc.
Sizewise, it’s about the same as the E-P1, at least the height (compared to the hand). It looks a little narrower. It has a flash hotshoe and the lens looks like the 17, so it’s probably not a new compact. I would guess on a cheaper m4/3 model. Or, as it’s in the tough section, a weathersealed model? But then the 17 isn’t weathersealed.
I believe this is at lx-3 category (and I hope so)
I think is an DPx X1 competitor….just hope for the Fuji sensor rumored….
4/3 sensor compact by any chance?
I think it will be the successor of the SP-590UZ model, announced (by the rumors) with a super zoom x30 (!) in a more compact version, with new sensor that allows video HD and speed autofocus. Let’s se. !
How about m43 with good EVF and without LCD?
Hmm… looks interesting and I don’t think its a compact, from the looks (the Optics looks like the 17mm Pancake) is must be a m4/3 and hopefully its the “Leica” Version of m4/3. By “Leica” Version I mean a full set of manual controls, internal viewfinder, internal flash for wireless RC, etc.
B
4/3 compact cam with non-removable lens.
Small sized camera: no place for an internal EVF!
it could have the design similar to the ep1 concept…
“Don’t be distracted on the 2nd. Keep your eye on the prize.”
What is that supposed to mean? I don’t get it.
Just for info: The Trailer can also be found also on the summary page for all Olympus Cameras:
http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_digital.asp
B
It may be the successor of the Olympus UZ series.
Do you remember the C-765-UZ and C-770-UZ cameras?
(I mean cameras with a good EVF)
If this was only shown on the compact / P&S camera pages, then it could be like Pentax’s new P&S compact that only looks like a retro style rangefinder. But i see that Borbarad says that it is not isolated to the compact / P&S section of the website, so it could be another m4/3 model: either an E-P3 or a fixed-lens, lower-cost, entry-level ILC.
From the proportion of the hand, the size is not that small.. almost the same as E-Ps … Probably this is another m4/3 camera.. My speculation, still no built in EVF as probably they will use the same EVF as E-P2, but probably built in flash available…. with higher megapixel most probably..
looking at the top part.. all the dial is like the GF-1. Control dial, shutter release and -+ compensation button in a same top area.
If it is true that this is another m4/3 then I hope that they tweak the AF
Worst come to worst probably it is just a compact camera with 4/3 sensor, fixed lens to challenge DP2, Leica X1 and LX 3 as everyone mentioned
Something like LX-3 would be a rival for future PEN’s, so that’s not what I hope/think…
I hope for a real rangefinder to compete with g11. would be nice to have a m9 with a 4/3 sensor and hopefully electronic global shutter. I even discussed with a friend about a tough series “minipro” camera.
i’m not a fan of olympus (although i have one of their cameras) but i can’t see them produzing an LX3 competitor… it’s too classy for them
It must be a new SPxxxUZ super zoom camera… 30x zoom?
Also, the EVF shares with E-P2’s.
Recently I’ve been looking at film Olympus Pen series from the 1960’s. The design cue looks like it’s from Olympus Pen EE series, which is a scaled down, point and shoot version of Olympus Pen F series (which is what E-P1 and E-P2 take cue of).
product tester here –

It could be anything. I looked at the source code, it has a product ID of 1501. I tried to poke into those directories but it is hidden from view. The IDs go in sequential order and it doesn’t matter if it is SLR, pen or P&S. E.G.
ID 1483 is the new Stylus 3000 and 1482 is the E-P2. I studied the source code for those items and they do have a directory with content; ready to be published. So at this point, it is anyone’s guess. Could be a PS, Tough, m43 or dSLR.
Don’t be distracted on the 2nd. Keep your eye on the prize.
It means E-P2 is only a distraction, it’s not really an advancement from E-P1what’s coming is the real deal?
i’m quite agree with jack, i was confused with that sentence at first.
1 Agent00soul said the height, i was attracted by the size of lens, definitely it’s not a plain compact. i’m looking forward to see the lens.
2 look at the design of olympus cameras, with the obvious hotspot and the mode wheel, it’s at least a GR/ LX3/ DP2 level.
3 the design of shape like the old famous olypus camera using film, which is a classic to me, which i think will be the prize!!!
4 with this kind of “innovation”, will they put a normal sensor as a fool? surely it’s a 4/3 sensor or enven more surprise.
5 the lens is big, but we don’t know if it’s interchangable or have a viewfinder. can we get all the things we want? i don’t think so.
