300mmPRO

UPDATE: You can now preorder the new Olympus 300mm f/4.0 PRO lens on Amazon US (Click here).

A readers sent me that image and the specs of the Olympus 300mm PRO lens that will be announced on January 6th. Don’t know where he got them (some German magazine or store brochure). Specs:

  • 300mm f/4.0 IS PRO (600mm equivalent)
  • 17 lenses in 10 groups
  • 140cm close focusing distance
  • 77mm filter
  • 93x227mm, 1475g
  • In lens stabilization (up to 6 stops!)
  • weather sealed
  • Price: 2600 Euro
  • Shipment in March

The text I received from the source also says:

  1. The Olympus lens weights 4-5 kilo less than comparable 600mm FF equivalent lenses like the [shoplink 57342 ebay]Canon 600mm IS USM[/shoplink]. On Amazon the Canon sells for $11,500 (but the Canon FF lens gathers more light as it’s designed for FF cameras).
  2. Another advantage of the new Olympus lens is the stabilization system which is said to be best of the world.
