Here is a small summary of the E-P1 possible specs with a percentage of probability:

This will be a major let-down if they maintain that black ‘patch’ and not have it wrap around the entire camera like the their old PEN models. Where is their sense of style/history? I’ve been waiting so long for this camera; would hate to have to wait even longer for a better made one.
I’m praying those latest photos are a “red herring” (distraction) to the real item.

It’s possible that the confilcting reports about megapixel size is because there is a difference between “sensor photo detectors” and “effective pixels” For example, the specs for the GH1 state that it has 12.1 effective megapixels, but 14 megapixels is the listed sensor photo detectors. This is probably due to the fact that the GH1 can take photos in several aspect ratios. I hope the same is true for the E-P1!

that’s what I (alejandro) believe. I received some rumors saying the E-P1 will have the same sensor as the GH1.

How cool would that be if it had the same sensor and same aspect ratios? One of the things that I liked about the GH-1 specs was the option to shoot 1:1 – that would be fun!

If you look at the specs on the E620 it states “13.1 million total pixels”, “12.3 million effective pixels”. Every sensor is like this; there are always pixels outside of the active area.
