SLRmagic will resume the Noktor lens production (and Nokton next production run in June)

[shoplink 22205 ebay][/shoplink]

A small update about the Noktor resurrection. SLRmagic will resume the production of the lens. Apparently they will keep the same design. But I do hope they can lower the price! $799 is really to much for a cheap quality lens even if it has an f/0.95 aperture. P.S.: There is currently one Noktor lens for sale on [shoplink 22205 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Now let’s talk about one of the hotseller inside the Micro Four Thirds world the Voigtländer Nokton 25mm f/0.95. Camerquest said that the next prodcution run will hit the north american market in June. Nice to see the lens is so highly requested. We want more from them Voigtländer! In Europe it’s much easier to find the lens in Stock: [shoplink 22125 ebay]Foto Mundus[/shoplink], [shoplink 22126 ebay]infoto2[/shoplink], [shoplink 22126 ebay]infoto2[/shoplink], [shoplink 22127 ebay]eu-shphoto[/shoplink], [shoplink 22128 ebay]deutscher-digitalhandel[/shoplink] (ships worldwide!).

At Photokina 2010 Olympus also announced the all BLACK E-P2 kit. There is now a $200 discount on that kit at Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here). The offer ends on June 4.

SLRmagic lowers the price of the 11mm f/1.4 lens

[shoplink 22155 ebay]

As you know one month ago SLR magic announced a new lens with Micro Four Thirds mount, the [shoplink 22155 ebay]11mm f/1.4[/shoplink]. The list price of $209.99 seemed too high for many of our readers and it’s good to see that SLRmagic recognized that and lowered the prize down to $129.99.It now has a different design with different MC coating to exclude the lens hood. It has a Micro Four Thirds mount (you don’t need any adapter). You can see some image samples taken with the lens on [shoplink 22154 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink]. You see there is a lot of vignetting you have to deal with (they call that toy effect). Those waiting for a high quality lens in that focal length should wait for the Olympus 12mm f/2.0 lens. But the SLRmagic lens is many times cheaper than the future Oly lens.

Preorders are also available on that link on [shoplink 22155 ebay]eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Fuji X100 in Stock at BHphoto (But Michael Carpentier says the GF1 is a better choice)

If you are looking to get a Fuji X100 you might take a look at BHphoto (Click here). UPDATE: Now out of Stock :(
There is an interesting note at Amazon US (Click here): “Note on Availability: This item is in high demand and supplies from the manufacturer are limited. Its availability will fluctuate, and if the item is not currently in stock, we cannot guarantee that we will receive additional quantities in a timely manner. We will not charge your credit card until we ship the product.”

P.S.: Photographer Michael Carpentier compared the Fuji X100 and the Panasonic GF1 camera. The original article has been written in french but click here to read the google english translation. You might be surprised to read that he considers the [shoplink 14828]GF1[/shoplink] a better choice than the X100. Image quality difference is minimal, and he is particularly disappointed with the Fuji’s lens performance at f/2.0. There is also a huge problem with focusing at short distance. There are also other quirks with the X100 but also some positive notes. Anyway the small image quality difference in favour of the X100 doesn’t justify the huge price difference. And if you really need that bit more of IQ you can still go for the Sony NEX-5!

To bad the GF1 is out of production. Click those links to see if you can find them at [shopcountry 14828].
