Robin Wong: This Old CCD LUMIX Compact Still Takes Beautiful Photos!

Robin Wong writes:

During my engineering days, I was stationed full time at a construction site. I was not happy with the company’s compact camera that they provided, which had bad image quality and no controls. I purchased the Panasonic Lumix LZ8 to be used for site documentation purposes, it has full manual control (ISO, aperture and shutter speed), more zoom capabilities (5x zoom) and the image quality was much better too. I still have that camera, and I thought it would be fun to bring it out for some street action!

G9 II Review by PcMag: “top pick for vloggers and photographers alike thanks to its excellent sensor, exceptional controls, and accurate phase detect focus system.”

PcMag published the G9II review and concluded:

Panasonic has a reputation for making fantastic mirrorless cameras for video, but it hasn’t always delivered the all-around performance hybrid creators demand. The G9 II is a clear step forward from the original G9. Its picture quality, subject recognition autofocus, and ergonomics are on par with competitors, and its video toolkit is downright impressive. We’re also fans of the large library of quality Micro Four Thirds lenses from first- and third-party manufacturers. The Canon EOS R7 is still our favorite for action, sports, and wildlife pursuits and the OM-1 stays truer to the Micro Four Thirds ethos with a slimmer body and stronger computational photography features, but the G9 II’s balanced, do-it-all approach earns it our Editors’ Choice award in this premium crop-sensor segment.

Panasonic G9II review by ThePhoBlographer: “the best Micro Four Thirds body that Panasonic has made yet”

With features designed specifically for stills, the Panasonic G9 II is the best Micro Four Thirds body that Panasonic has made yet. The body boasts both comfort and durability. The stabilization is an impressive eight stops. Speed is a quick 60 fps or 10 fps with the mechanical shutter with pre-burst. RAW images are a bit cleaner than on the GH6. And the best part? Panasonic’s Micro Four Thirds finally has hybrid phase detection autofocus.
