Is the Panasonic 8mm too expensive? Get the Samyang 8mm f/3.5 for $300

GF1 + Samyang 8mm from ADAM MADA on Vimeo.

One of our readers R.B. found a “solution” for all of you thinking that the new Panasonic 8mm f/3.5 fisheye lens is too expensive.
If you don’t care about size or manual focusing you could go for the Samyang/Falcon/Bower/Rokinon/Opteka 8mm Fisheye that sells for $300. It produces sharp images and has no vignetting. Used with a $20 adapter for Micro 4/3 u get a nice fisheye image at half the price.

First image samples taken with the new Olympus 14-150mm lens!

As you know by end of June Olympus will release the new Olympus 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6 lens (preorder on amazon for $599).

Inside the forum photofan.jp there is one of those lucky guys that had the chance to test the new lens (google english translation). He says that focus speed is fast and very quiet. The lens it selft is very lightweight, zoom ring is very large and focus ring is very smooth.

I will post here two of the images he has taken with the lens. The first image has been taken at 14mm and the second at 150mm. Click on the image to enlarge!

New Olympus 9-18mm review on Letsgodigital

Letsgodigital just posted their latest Olympus 9-18mmOlympus 9-18mmOlympus 9-18mmOlympus 9-18mmOlympus 9-18mmOlympus 9-18mmOlympus 9-18mm review. They confirm that CA (Chromatic Aberration) is high but sharpness is excellent.

In the meanwhile one owner noticed a “extreme softness on the right side” (dpreview forum). Hope this is a problem with that specific sample and not a general issue.

Rolling shutter effect comparison between the Panasonic GF1, Sony NEX-5 and Samsung NX-10

Check out the three video on youtube (click here). It is easy to see that the Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10Samsung NX-10 is the worst camera here. The NEX-5 and the Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1Panasonic GF1 are almost on par with the GF1 having the less worse results (in my opinion).
