Tons of new reviews! FourThirds ZD lenses , Panasonic G2/GF1 and Olympus E-PL1

Finally “someone” reviewed the very best Olympus FourThirds lenses! Kirk Tuck wrote a nice Olympus ZD 14-35mm and 35-100mm f/2 Zoom Lens review at TheOnlinePhotographer.

Also another FourThirds lens (the Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Interchangeable Lens) gets tested at ePhotozine

New Noktor video. Noktor f/0.95 lens shipping.

Large format photography from 43rumors on Vimeo.

The cool thing about the Noktor is that f/0.95 aperture. So why not test the lens inside the darkroom? With no other lens I would be able to shoot in such a place. Take a look on the video to see the results. And keep in mind there was almost no light in the darkroom!
I found the f/0.95 aperture good enough for video shooting. Almost every part of the video has been taken at that aperture. Shooting handheld with a 100mm (50mm x2) lens is not easy. In fact you really need a tripod to take some “calm” pictures. But I didn’t have anyone with me on that day.

You asked me to post RAW images and original videos. Right now I am putting all the images together and I will upload them soon (it will take few hours).

By the way, the lens is in Stock now: http://noktor.com/products.php.

That hurts! What Jonathan Wong thinks about the Samsung NX10 (vs Olympus E-PL1)

Jonathan Wong reviewed both cameras, the Samsung NX10 and the Olympus E-PL1. You can read his review on SteveHuffPhoto.com.

In short what he didn’t like about the Samsung NX:
– the AF gets confused easily in low light
– the Auto-ISO programming is AWFUL (Some daft genius at Samsung, however, has decided in their infinite wisdom that a minimum shutter speed of 1/15 is ok!!!)
– the EVF is pretty horrid (pixels galore!)
– the Samsung has a tendency to blow colors out with all the elegance of a rhino in ballet shoes.

And here the conclusion:
For all intents and purposes, this review could end here: the Olympus E-PL1 is a far superior camera.

That hurts!

a little bit of everything…

For those of you who might missed my first Noktor video :)
