Competition news: Leica Q, Sony A7rII, RX100m4 and RX10m2 announced.
A lot happened this week on the competition front. And some of those new products compete against actual Panasonic/Olympus cameras:
1) Leica announced the new Full Frame fixed lens Q camera (details here at BHphoto). This camera is not made in collaboration with Panasonic as it happened with past fixed lens cameras. And I think the sensor is a Sony too (Panasonic doesn’t make FF sensors yet).
2) Sony A7rII (details here at Amazon). It has 5 axis stabilization just like the Olympus E-M1/M5II cameras. But the tech behind it is completely different. It also has internal 4K recording making it a serious GH4 competitor (although the A7rII costs more than double!).
3) Sony RX10m2 (details here at Amazon). This is a Panasonic FZ1000 competitor. But we know Panasonic has a new FZ3000 camera on schedule. Don’t know if Panasonic will use the new Sony 1inch sensor too.
4) Sony RX100m4 (details here at Amazon). Definitely a LX100 competitor. LX100 is cheaper but the RX100m4 has tons of great features.
Always good to hear how Sony is pushing the boundaries. I hope this helps to speed up their E-M1II, FZ3000, GX8 and TRIP-D release :)
