There is an interesting story that might tell us a lot about the future of the camera market. I contacted many well known store managers and asked them to give me an idea of the Fuji X100VI preorder numbers. The camera is selling about 50x times more than the Sony A7cII/A7cR combined and 35x times more than the Nikon ZF.
I thought about the possible reason of this incredible success in my latest video. In some ways I think a future PEN-F successor could appeal to the same young buyers that are longing for the Fuji. My case in short is:
- Nowadays all cameras are good from a tech point of view. Manufacturers should therefore focus on 1) camera style 2) usability 3) film styles
- The younger generation wants to step up from smartphone photography and wants to buy gear they fiend beautiful and easy to use
A PEN-FII could bring back some enthusiasm in the MFT lineup! What do you think?
