Poll: Will you buy the new E-PL7 (E-M10 clone)?

Share

Soon Olympus will announce the PEN version of the E-M10 :) This means same E-M10 sensor, same autofocus, same ISO range, same screen and so on. What we still don’t know is the price but it will be certainly lower than the current E-M10 kit price ($799). This is also likely the only PEN we will get this year. So the question now is:

Will you consider to buy the new Olympus E-PL7?

Small surprise: New Voigtlander 25mm II lens shows small improvements in sharpness and contrast (ePhotozine).

Share

ePhotozine reviewed the new II version of the popular Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95 lens. And there seems to be a small surprise as there is a small Image Quality improvement too:

This sample also appears to offer improvements in sharpness and contrast over the copy of the first version we tested some time ago. Whether this is down to natural variation between lens samples, or improvements to the optical construction is difficult to say at this point, without having a few of each lens version to test and compare.

The lens is in Stock at Amazon (Click here), Adorama (Click here) and BHphoto (Click here).

(FT3) Is the E-PL7 the only new PEN for this year?

Share

As you know the new generation E-PM and E-PL camera were usually always announced together (September 17, 2012 and June 30, 2011). But according to one anonymous source this isn’t going to happen this year. He only heard about the new E-PL camera and it’s going to replace both the [shoplink 33622]E-PL5[/shoplink] and [shoplink 33620]E-Pm2[/shoplink].

If that’s true than not only Panasonic (no G and no GF) but also Olympus is finally streamlining their PEN range. It makes much more sense to keep the E-PL as low-budget PEN and the E-P as high-end PEN series. But while I am sure about the Panasonic not updating the G and GF series in 2014 I still have no 100% sure confirmation from trusted sources about the E-Pm series being dropped. So this is just a pure unconfirmed rumor for now.
