(FT5) No joke: Not yet announced GX7 can be preordered in France at FNAC! Costs 999 Euro.

43rumors reader Guillaume reports an amazing story:

Yesterday, I went to Fnac store in oder to get a G6. Unfortunately, they only have G6 with kit lens 14-140. As I wanted the body only version, the vendor searched in Fnac products database but the body version wasn’t referenced. He show me the search results for “Pana body only” saying: “sorry, no G6, the only Panasonic that I can order in body only version are the GH3 and GX7. Bingo, I pre-order mine with 200€ account.

Sadly Fnac had no pictures of the new GX7 but at leats we now know that the GX7 body costs 999 Euro! And all my sources confirmed the GX7 specs. New 18Megapixel sensor, built-in tiltatble EVF, on sensor stabilization (a first on Panasonic MFT cameras). Announcement in August! This is more o rless how it looks (image from panasonic patent):

This is how the GX7 is likely going to look (Courtesy Dicahub).

New Olympus 17mm and Panasonic G6 reviews.

EOSHD Panasonic G6 test (plus GH3 comparison shots) from Andrew Reid on Vimeo.

The Panasonic G6 got tested by Andrew at EosHD (Click here):

“Although it doesn’t match the stills and raw video quality coming from the Canon 5D Mark III (nor is it full frame) for $650 you can’t expect it too – yet the G6 gives generously and it has put a smile on my face. The GH2 is back! And for $650 it is better than ever.”

Photographyblog (Click here) tested the Olympus 17mm f/1.8 lens and writes:

“Overall, the Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 17mm f/1.8 is a huge step up from the pancake-style M.Zuiko Digital 17mm f/2.8, being sharper, faster and quicker to focus, while offering better build quality and more features in a slightly bigger and heavier – but still tiny and lightweight – package. This does come at a hefty price premium though, with the new lens being about 70-90% dearer.”

Price drop: Panasonic 12-35mm X lens for $999.

The price for the the Panasonic 12-35mm X lens just dropped down to $99 thankt to top rated seller [shoplink 40444 ebay]MZgamers on eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

Speaking of high quality zoom I do hope Olympus-Panasonic will learn the lesson from Sigma. Their new 18-35mm f/1.8 zoom not only is terrific fast, but also of very high quality. And all that for $799 (Amazon price). I hope they will acknowledge that!

(FT2) Panasonics 150mm f/2.8 to cost £2500 (around €3000)?

Share

As you already know Panasonic has two high quality lenses in their roadmap. The 42,5mm f/1.2 and the 150mm f/2.8 primes. Unconfirmed rumors do say that the latter will cost around £2500 (almost 3000 Euro or Dollars). Obviously we don’t know nothing yet about the delivered image quality but the price still sounds way too high. It’s hard to compare it with other lenses. The Olympus 150mm f/2.0 lens costs around $2500 (here at Amazon) but is also one stop faster. I do hope the rumor is wrong!

What’s I can confirm via trusted sources is that both lenses will hit the stores in early 2014 only (although price and specs announcement will be made earlier).

First Blackmagic Cinema Pocket Cameras will not have RAW.

Auckland In My Pocket – Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera from A Couple Of Night Owls on Vimeo.

43rumors reader Jeff just sent us that message:

Over in the dvinfo.net blackmagic forum, I had the chance to ask John Brawley if he was allowed to comment on RAW yet he responded by saying the camera will likely ship without raw and it will be added at a later date. He’s maintained he hasn’t been allowed to release any footage or info without BMD’s permission. They must have authorized him to make that statement. First time I’ve seen him comment on raw.

Pity we have to wait for the fw update to get RAW recording. Anyway, we will patiently wait for the new firmware as we will had to do for the camera. BHphoto (Click here) changed the status for the Blackmagic camera. It now says “Available for pre-order” and no more “shipping on July 25”. Hope this doesn’t mean it’s delayed. But the camera is worth the long wait. Juts watch that new video sample on top…amazing quality!

P.S.: Blackmagic Pocket Cinema preorders in USA at Adorama (Click here), BHphoto (Click here) and in Germany at Technikdirekt, in France at pbs-video. In Sweden at macoteket, scandinavianphoto, protel.jetshop, webhallen.

(FT5) Definitely a new Olympus MFT lens to be announced in September.

Share

Finally some feedback from trusted sources! One of them just told me that one brand new Olympus MFT lens will be announced in September. He didn’t unveil the specs yet. I hope other sources reading this may share some bits more about it. Anyway, I remember there were rumors about a fast zoom floating around the web. So maybe this one is what is coming now!

I know it’s little info, but this should be just the start of a wave of new FT5 rumors…

Oliver: here is a post of mine for your 43rumor blog’s “reader’s stuff” section. Maybe you are interested in posting the link. Its not about any fancy m43 gear or a dusty, yet beautiful old legacy lens. All pictures, however, were shot with a G1 – showing how one can snap beautiful pictures with even the oldest of the m43 cams. http://500px.com/olli_muc/stories/85759/crossing-the-alps

Jacob:I have come across a site that has some great underwater photos taken with the Olympus OMD – http://footlessfish.com there is also a good link to some street pics with the Olympus 17mm lens on the same site at here.

Andreas:My name is Andreas Fougner Ezelius and I have been following 43rumors for a while. I have started a picture blog in my native language swedish. I have shot four thirds and now micro four thirds. Lots of nature photos with long legacy glass. Feel free to share the blog if you like! Great job on everything else! :) http://www.m43foto.se/

Juan:Hi, I would like to share with you and m4/3 comunity my 2nd part of the m.ZD 17mm f/1.8 review. It’s all about distortion, sharpness, CA, vigneting… and DxO Optcis 8 Pro vs Olympus Viewer 3 images from ORF
No, graphics, no science, no measures, just two images to compare them http://juansinponte.blogspot.com.es/2013/07/olympus-mzd-17mm-f18-ii.html. It’s amazing how different are the pictures taken fron each developer software.
I woul like you ask to the people, what they prefer: HQ optics and pricely withput CA, distortions… or just a lens like the 17mm f1.8 cheap but with software corrections.?
Kholi:You featured another video of ours from the Blackmagic CInema camera and SLR Magic prime combination a few months back. We have another video up we’re sharing of Comic Con San Diego: https://vimeo.com/70746459. Again with the SLR Magic 12 and 25.
