Metabones Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster test with Blackmagic camera from Philip Bloom Reviews & Tutorials on Vimeo.

The new Nikon to m4/3 speed booster already got tested by Ed on DVXuser (Click here):

“I can tell you I LOVE that with this adapter I’m getting closer to what the original FOV is on the lens. Now that each lens is a bit wider- my 28mm “looks” more like what I remember it’s supposed to. The m4/3 crop factor is now not so much of an issue with my old Nikkor primes. And of course the extra stop of light never hurts!!”

The OM adapter will now come as next!

Panasonic LF1 in Stock in USA. E-P5 to ship soon.

Share

The new Panasonic LF1 is now in Stock for the first time in USA via BHphoto (Click here). That camera left us with a bit of mixed feelings. Certainly a nice camera but not a real winner in the higly competitive compact camera market. It’s rumored that Olympus will release a high end compact camera soon. I hope it will feature a larger sensors to compete against the Sony RX100.

And finally the E-P5 will ship on June 12 (body only) and June 15 (superkit) according to Amazon US (Click here).

The other MFT camera deals:
GH3 for $1,028 (with 2% reward included) at Amazon US (Click here).
G5 with 14-42mm lens for $349 and free 32GB SD card at Samys (Click here).
G5 with double lens kit and free $100 Gift Card(!) at Adorama (Click here) for $598 (or $498 if you detract the gift card).
E-P3 for $329 at Amazon (Click here).

GX7 image and specs roundup. Do you like the design?

Share

GX7 patent image colored by Dicahub.

Next month Panasonic will finally show us the real new Panasonic GX7 camera. It’s time to make a roundup of the specs and images and ask you guys if you actually like the new cameras.

1) The camera design goal was to take inspiration from the superbly designed [shoplink 36080 ebay]Four Thirds L1 camera (here on eBay)[/shoplink].
2) The Sensor is a new 18 megapixel Bayer sensor. I am 100% sure this doens’t have the new organic tech devloped by Fuji-Panasonic. It’s still a long time to go before you wills ee that tech in a MFT camera
3) It is the first Panasonic camera with in body stabilization. it is not as advanced as the Olympus 5 axis stabilization. This is a “normal” 2 axis IS.
4) Pop up flash and titlable built-in EVF. There is still no info about the EVF resolution but an anonymous source told me it’s not the same GH3 viewfinder (FT2 for now).
5) It also has a tilting LCD (resolution unknown).

Now assuming specs and design presneted in this post are correct:

Do you like the new GX7?

I am still (very busy) working on the next bunch of GX and OMD rumors. I got a small detail from a source about the name of the new Panasonic camera. It is the “Panasonic DMC-GX7“. The rumors till has not been confirmed by my trusted sources but I “believe” it’s the correct final name. Bloggers and forum owners and ebay sellers can now start to create their GX7 forums. Meantime I made a GX7 group on Facebook and a Google+ page :)

All specs got confirmed, the camera is bigger than previous models and design reminds the [shoplink 36080 ebay]Four Thirds L1 camera (here on eBay)[/shoplink]. It has a new 18MP sensor but I don’t yet if that is multiaspect or the new color splitter sensor. It has the built-in image stabilization which is not the same and not as advanced as the one from Olympus. It has a built-in viewfinder that you can tilt up.

I found it quite funny that a terrific good source told me that Panasonic made the camera for me :)  Thanks you Panasonic engineers!

Patent: Possible GX7 design spotted!

Share

Digifotopro spotted a patent showing that Panasonic MFT camera design. The chance is high this could be the final Panasonic GX7 design. Digifoto calls it GX2 but we know from our sources this will be the GX7 and feature a new 18MP sensor, tilt screen, built-in on sensor stabilization and obviously an integrated viewfinder. The viewfinder can be tilted and that’s the first time ever we have this on a digital mirrorless camera. The GX7 will be announced in late August!

The GX7 is bigger than the current GX1

So…do you like it???

First review of the new Samyang 16mm f/2.0 lens.

Share

ePhotozine (Click here) posted the first review of the new Samyang 16mm f/2.0 lens. The lens gets Highly Recommended:

“Those looking for wide aperture lenses for the APS-C or smaller format camera need not continue looking at full frame lenses, that generally cost and weigh more now this lens is available. Although some photographers may find manual focusing off putting, spending a little time practising and getting used to how the lens behaves will pay dividends in the long run. This is especially true when considering how little this lens costs for what you get.”

(FT5) Olympus-Sony partnership more advanced than we could think of. New sensor tech in 2015.

Share

I got many new rumors about the Olympus-Sony partnership. Apparently the partnership on the camera front is much more tight than you could think by reading the official press releases. In short:

1) All the best tech from Olympus like the 5 axis stabilization, JPEG engine, lens knowledge are already being implemented in the soon to be announced Sony A and E-mount cameras. We will see them in use on Sony cameras by end 2013 already!

2) Olympus will receive some literally “Amazing” sensors from Sony. 2014 sensor will be improved tech based on today’s sensor tech (with on sensor PDAF for example). From 2015 on completely new kind of sensors will be used that will be more advanced than the sensor tech show recently by the Panasonic-Fuji duo. More about that in a future 43rumors post.

This comes from highly trusted sources. And if all works fine I could give you soem details about the 2015 sensors soon. Stay tuned!
