Not again! Fuji cheats (a bit) on MFT vs APS-C sensor size comparison…

Share

Incredible! This is the third time and the third company that cheats on a sensor size comparison by reducing the real size of the MFT sensor. The video on top is made by Fuji and shows a sensor size comparison. I noticed that the size of the APS-C sensor was huge compared to MFT sensor. So I took time to analyze the size comparison image from wikipedia and noticed that the actual size of the APS-C sensor is smaller:

The Fuji X-M1 is a very nice camera and Fuji really doesn’t need to cheat to demonstrate they are doing a fine job.

(UPDATED) E-P5 in Stock at Amazon and Samys. Image share APP 2.0 released.

Share

We have some Olympus E-P5 related news. Here they are…

First the three good news:
1) The white E-P5 body is in Stock and shipping at Amazon (Click here) and Samys (Click here).
2) Today Olympus releases the an updated for the OI Share app to support the new E-P5 (links on iTunes and Google Play).
3) There is already a 43 pound price drop on the still to be released E-P5 at Amazon UK (Click here). Lucky guys!

Ok, that was the good news part…now the bad news:
1) While the APP and the white E-P5 are here the camera EVF+lens kit release has been postponed at Amazon (1-3months) and BHphoto (July 18).
2) There is a new Olympus E-P5 review at Digitalcamerainfo. They prefer the OMD over the new PEN:

“There are really very few convincing arguments in favor of the E-P5. On the other hand, there are plenty of reasons to choose the OM-D: weather sealing, an integrated (if marginally less useful) EVF, and the option to add a secondary battery grip.”

Unless you need 1/8000 shutter, Wifi and other new tidbits the E-P5 has it’s hard to justify the price difference between the two! Right now the E-M5 is $130 cheaper than the E-P5. Sunset Electronics is selling the [shoplink 39673 ebay]E-M5 body for $869.95 (Click here)[/shoplink] and the [shoplink 39672 ebay]E-M5 with 12-50mm lens for $1,109.95 (Click here)[/shoplink].

Zeiss Touit lenses no better than the cheaper MFT lenses.

Share

Zeiss announced that they will not any MFT version of their Touit series because they want to focus on the larger ASP-C sensors which in their mind delivers better image quality. But according to DxOmark who tested both new Zeiss lenses on the NEX-7 this statement isn’t really true. The Panasonic-Leica 25mm ($569 at Amazon) is on par with the more expensive Zeiss 32mm ($900 at Amazon). And the Olympus 12mm lens ($799) beats the much more expensive 12mm Distagon ($1250!).

So again Zeiss…what did you say? :)

And the eBay Deal of the day is the Olympus E-Pl3 with kit lens that can be bought for $239 via [shoplink 39820 ebay]Newegg eBay (Click here)[/shoplink].

And one more thing: The new Panasonic 20mm II pancake can’t come nowhere near to the popularity of the “older” lens at Amazon mirrorless ranking (Click here to see the list).
