Submit, find and share Micro Four Thirds deals on DealsRunner.com.

Every day 43rumors reader send me deals about MFT stuff from all over the world. And it’s impossible for me to post them all on 43rumors. That’s why in collaboration with my colleagues from other rumor sites and a couple of crazy programmers we created a platform where you can share your deals! It’s called DealsRunner.com. It’s actually a community platform where people not only can submit but also comment and vote the deal “hotness”. And you can get notified when new deals of your interest have been posted. I would kindly invite you to register and join the community (it’s very easy, you can also register by one click Facebook or Twitter connection).

I will soon embed the deal stream in my sidebar on 43rumors. This will enhance the quality of the websites because:

1) As you know I work alone on 43rumors. And I am not always online and sometimes it happens that I miss to post links to good deals. By following dealsrunner you will not have that issue anymore.
2) If the concept works than I can start to post less deals on 43rumors and use my more of my free time on regular news and rumor coverage.
3) You can customize your geographic area and deal category so that you can get notification about deals that really could be interesting for you! Example: If you live in Europe you can choose to get notified on European deals only. And for you can also set your area of interest (for Panasonic and Olympus brands).

Below I attached two very basic self made explanation of how it works:

And there is a filter to display the deals you want. Click on that one to see a larger image:

I really hope you will find it useful! You would take me away quite some stress by using this platform. So feel free to register and try to submit some deals you know of! http://www.dealsrunner.com/

Editor’s note: I also plan to redo 43rumors with a more simple and less cluttered layout. But it will take some time because I am busy with my newborn. And I have to use my spare time on GX2 and OMD rumor work. I expect the new 43rumors site to be online by late 2013.

Thank you! And please send me your feedback of DealsRunner at admin@dealsrunner.com. And if you have some smart idea for the new 43rumors site contact me at 43rumors@gmail.com!

(FT4) Rumors are becoming stronger about a new Olympus camera with hybrid MFT-FT mount

Share
[shoplink 39058 ebay]

[/shoplink]

The [shoplink 39058 ebay]Ikon Contax[/shoplink] also had a hybrid mount solution

The new GX camera rumors really has stolen the show from Olympus. But trust me, that’s going to be a strong and intriguing rumor battle! In these last few days I got two rumors from sources I know from a long time. Both told me that they got hints about a new high end Olympus camera that will be announced in September. And it’s going to be a camera much larger than the current E-M5 that has a mount that allows to take both Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds lenses without the use of any adapter!

How this could work I don’t know. There are two examples from the filmcamera history but I don’t know if Olympus will pickup one of the two ideas (or both together):
1) [shoplink 39057 ebay]Contax AX camera (here one Bay)[/shoplink]: The camera had a moving film plane inside the camera.
2) [shoplink 39058 ebay]Zeiss Ikon Contax (here one Bay)[/shoplink]: The original Contax rangefinder made from the 1930ies to the 50ies had two bayonets! Camerapedia explains how this works: “This mount is in fact the combination of two bayonets. There is a focusing helical built in the body and the standard lenses mount directly in that focusing ramp via an internal bayonet. So the standard lenses have no focusing ring of their own. The other lenses mount on an external bayonet and have their own focusing ring, only the rangefinder coupling is done via the body’s focusing ramp.” A nice image of the mount can be seen at Fotocommunity.

I hope some of our sources can me soon explain how this works for real (if the rumor is true). This is going to be a really exciting time, GX successor sounds amazing and that Olympus high tech may turn out to be a really nice (and useful) camera too!

Stay tuned on 43rumors! (and if you have some time help us to test our new beta deals site project: DealsRunner.com).

It is true, Lens Turbo coming for MFT the second half of the year.

Share

[shoplink 38940 ebay][/shoplink]

So it’s real! Mitakon is now selling their first Lens Turbo Adapter with 0.72x Focal Reduce. It works exactly like the Speed Booster adapter from metabones but it costs a lot less. Plenty of [shoplink 38940 ebay]Lens Turbo auctions for NEX can be found here on eBay[/shoplink]. The official press release can be read at Mitakon’s website.

I asked Mitakon if and when they will make adapters for the MFT system. They told me they will release them the second half of this year! I still have no info about the supported lens mounts. But it’s great to have different options and a cheaper alternative.

P.S.: To automatically get notified when new Lens Turbo will be for sale on eBay just save this search in your Slidoo account.

Olympus patent discloses new 3D camera and lens.

Share

You still remember the huge 3D advertising campaigns? They are now almost gone. We even had a 12.5mm f/12 Micro Four Thirds 3D lens from Panasonic but after it nothing new camera for the MFT system. But at least on “patent-paper” research and development is continuing and Egami (translation here) spotted that new Olympus 3D lens and camera patent. The lens design of the 25mm f/2.8 and 24-41mm f/4.5-5.6 3D lens is made for Four Thirds sensor camera. But I really doubt we will see these lenses for real any time soon…don’t you think?
