Curiosity: OM digital latest price cut on the 150-600mm (-$700) finally puts it a bit closer to the Sigma pricing

Share

OM Digital recently launched brand new deals and those do include a rather big $700 price cut on the OM 150-600mm lens. It now sells for $1999 at Amazon, BHphoto, Adorama, Om Digital. As you know this lens has the same optical construction of the original Sigma 150-600mm lens that now sells for $1350 in their Sony E and Leica L mount variants. So while the OM version is still in my opinion too expensive I am happy to see that it has definitely become more reasonable in terms of pricing

OM Digtial launched new big savings in the USA at BHphoto, Adorama, Amazon. A shortlist of the deals you can find:

Let’s go crazy for a moment: Fujifilm will announce a completely new camera with new sensor size….what it if’s FourThirds?

Share

I’ll tell you up front: I think there’s a 0.0001% chance that Fujifilm will use a Four Thirds sensor. Still, I think it’s worth speculating because I’m 100% certain that Fujifilm will launch a new camera with a sensor size other than APS-C or medium format for the first time in many years (Source: Fujirumors).

Rationally, you’d bet on them going full-frame, but Fujifilm has stated so many times in the past that they’re not going full-frame that this would be a pretty big surprise. This leaves us with some other fancy options like 1 inch sensor (or smaller) or even Four Thirds sensor. Fujifilm is NOT part of the MFT alliance, and the only way I can think of is to use a Four Thirds sensor in a compact fixed lens camera. This would allow them to develop a variant of their popular X100VI with a zoom lens and at an affordable price.

But I know that’s a dream and that Fujifilm is more likely to surprise us with something completely different. What is your best guess about their new product?
