We have new Olympus E-5 reviews for you!

Robin Wong posted some image samples taken with the E-5 and the 12-60mm f/2.8-4.0 SWD lens. He liked the extremely fast and reliable autofocus because it “never failed to locked on target, and locked on it incredibly accurately“. He also liked the “lively, vibrant and yet very true-to-life colours” and the Jpeg output. Read the on street review at robinwong.blogspot.com.

Another malaysian blog called “Thru the Eye of the Zuiko” has the E-5 for testing. He also posted one image comparison with the older Olympus E-3. He used the Zuiko Digital ED7-14mm f/4.0 and the Zuiko Digital ED50mm f/2.0 Macro. A full list of images are available on Flickr.

E-5 preorders are available at Amazon US, BHphoto and Adorama.

Size (when closed) Height: About 116mm × width: approx 52mm × thickness: about 17.7mm
Weight Approximately 146g
LCD Full widescreen 3.3-inch VGA LCD
Sensor CMOS Approximately 13.2 million pixels (effective) CMOS

(Source Panasonic Japan).

Panasonic will unveil all details on October the 5th!

UPDATE_1: via Engadget: “It’s also noteworthy that Panasonic’s press release indicates a folding mechanism for this handset, which, given current trends in Japan, makes it most likely to be a clamshell device. It’s also got some DLNA voodoo inside and is coming out by the end of this fiscal year (April 2011)

UPDATE_2: Although this is a non-related (m)43thirds news I think this could have signifcant influence on future (m)43 camera development. Can you imagine a GF3/GH3 running on a new OS with API to create dedicated application for the specific camera? Am I the only one dreaming here? :)

UPDATE_3: It features a new high-intensity flash. Touch-operation is available during shooting and playback. Wi-Fi, microSDHC/SD and easy touch-share operations.

Norman Princen just sent us the following text:

I attended DV Expo today and sat through the AG-AF100 presentation by Jan Crittenden. I had my GH1 with me and snapped photos of her presenting the charts with intent to post them here. After the presentation, I asked Jan for permission to post my shots of the slides on DVXUser. To my surprise, she offered to give me the original presentation file! So, attached to this message are a link to a picture of Jan presenting the first slide and a link to the entire presentation converted to a PDF for everyone to read. There are a few new nuggets in the presentation, including the new official price of $5,000.
