Lumix 2025: No new lens and maybe just one new compact MFT model?
Panasonic has launched a lot of new MFT cameras in 2025. The GH7 is great, but the G97 and G100D were just incredibly minor updates. They haven’t announced a new lens, and so far I haven’t heard any rumors that we might get anything new in 2025.
I’m pessimistic for 2025. At best we’ll get a new GM/GF compact camera model. The Panasonic exec has stated that they haven’t given up on the mirrorless compact camera market… so I’m hoping a GM/GF model is on the horizon for 2025. But that’s about it… I don’t see another camera coming in 2025… or do I?
As for the lenses, there are no rumors or hints of anything new. I hope to be surprised…. but as a serious rumor collector, I have to tell you that I’m pessimistic.
I know I’ve given you a gloomy outlook, and I hope I’m just wrong. But where do you see hope where I don’t?
a bit of everything…

Panasonic CES press event teaser: “WELL into the Future”
Panasonic is scheduled to deliver a major keynote at CES 2025 on January 7, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. PT, led by Group CEO Yuki Kusumi.
The company’s theme for this event is “WELL into the Future,” focusing on innovations that enhance environmental sustainability and family well-being. While specific product announcements have not been officially disclosed, there is speculation within the photography community about potential new camera releases.
Some enthusiasts hope for updates to models like the S1H II or S1R II (no new MFT camera rumored yet), given Panasonic’s history of unveiling hybrid or cinema cameras at past CES events. However, these remain unconfirmed rumors.
