Cool: Taylor Swift shoots with the Olympus E-M10IV

Share

Our follower Jannik Böttcher spotted an image of Taylor Swift holding the Olympus E-M10IV. This isn’t casual, Taylor is a long time Olympus shooter. As pointed out by Erlend Straume on our FB page there are other photos of her with the silver version of the original E-M1. (Source: Tweet from June 30th, 2016.)

Elite Daily also reports:

Back in 2022, when Swift was on The Tonight Show to promote her Midnights album, host Jimmy Fallon mentioned “a really cool camera” that she used to capture a photo at a pizza party the two were attending. TikToker @gabydeimeke found said camera — an Olympus OM-D E-M10. While it may look vintage, this mirrorless black and silver Olympus camera is digital and comes with preset filters. The “Vintage Art Filter 1” is apparently the one that Swift uses on all her photos, which gives them that hipster cool tone.

If OM Digital made her an official ambassador, she could single-handedly save the entire MFT system :)

First ever reliable info about the OM Digital business: Sales are growing, annual deficit is shrinking, but company is still in the red

Share

In the past three years OM Digital never shared any details about their business operations. So we had no clue if their camera business was doing ok or not. But the latest Industry Map magazine finally disclosed detailed info about the company financial:

OM Digital Results 2021-2023

2023 … Sales: 29.2 billion yen / Operating profit: -210 million yen
2022 … Sales: 28.2 billion yen / Operating profit: -640 million yen
2021 … Sales: 21.9 billion yen / Operating profit: -1.8 billion yen

So at last we know that sales are growing, the annual deficit is shrinking, but the company is still in the red. The magazine has given no further details and we have no idea what the plans are for the future.

I know from trusted sources that the cost-cutting measures have been extreme and that many good people have been laid off and a few “inexperienced” people have been hired in their place. At least that’s what I’m told.

But cost-cutting measures alone will not save the company. They need investment in research and development and a new product strategy! And here I am still getting negative feedback, which summarizes that they are not ready to take any risks yet. That’s why they don’t feel comfortable developing a potential bestseller like the PEN-F successor. Just recently I suggested OM Digtial to launch a Kickstarter project around a possible PEN-FII.

I hope OM Digtial realizes that no company ever survived by cutting costs only. We need some bold new ideas to keep MFT alive!
